Inspired by his parents' collection of antiques and old
German toys, Craig experimented with different materials "
until I found something that worked" to re-create the look
and feel of old toys. He sculpts his animals from wire,
papier-mậché, and cotton, and notes that he does every
step by hand. "It would be easier to make one, then just
use the mold for all the others, " he admits, " but I think it's
important to hand-make each one so everyone can own an
original piece." Craig strives to make traditional designs
with a sense of realism, which fits with his definition of folk
art: " Either using traditional methods or materials that
define traditions and culture. "
